About K9 X

I am a retired police dog sergeant with around 25 years experience of both handling dogs and instructing dog/handler teams in the disciplines of General Purpose, Drugs/Cash/Firearms and Explosive Detection. I have worked in Greater Manchester and the Isle of Man Constabularies.

I am a UK Home Office accredited instructor and have held this accreditation since 2003. I gained accreditation in Lancashire and South Wales but have additionally worked closely with Cumbria Constabulary over a number of years.

As part of the IOM Police Dog Unit, I was recognised for teamwork, receiving internal awards and was nominated for the Isle of Man Newspapers Award for Excellence.

I was awarded the PTLLS teaching qualification following study at the Isle of Man College.

Why has K9 X been started?

I launched K9 X because of the interest people have always shown in police dogs and their training.  This is not magic and is within easy reach of anyone who is committed, consistent and wishing to improve their own, and their dogs, skills in line with the training methods the professionals use.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a dog handler and instructor within the police service but I’m loving the ability to share the fun I had for many years with others.

Everything should be fun based and beneficial to you and your dog, the relationship should not be a chore, enjoy it.

Become a dog handler, not just a pet owner!
