IOM Shepherds lineage goes back to 2008 when Ian set up a small breeding programme within the Isle of Man Constabulary Dog Unit. The intention was to get solid working dogs with a good temperament and known backgrounds for health screening. Puppies were bought and trained as working police dogs in the first instance, both passing initial courses and providing many years of active service. They produced two litters which went on to be working dogs within the Isle of Man and with Cumbria Police. Some were bought and kept as pets on the Isle of Man in family environments.

A puppy from a different line, Amfides K9, was purchased to prevent inbreeding, and Saskia raised and trained this girl to initial general purpose dog level. On leaving the police Saskia kept the girl, Kelly and she has had three litters with again some of the puppies going to pet homes and others becoming operational police dogs within UK forces.

We try exceptionally hard to maintain our core temperament and working drives and only mate when certain that health and behaviours of both parents are of our required standards. There are no guarantees with nature but we do our very best to ensure our puppies are well rounded and willing to learn.

We are not a puppy farm and would generally only have one litter per year if everything goes well.
