Saskia

Saskia became a member of the IOM Police Dog Unit in 2015, becoming the Island’s first female Dog Handler to pass a general purpose dog initial course. She quickly followed this up by developing a Labrador for explosive detection training and completed another initial course in Drugs/Cash and Firearms detection. During her time as an operational Police Dog Handler in the aforementioned areas, she had many positive results which benefited the Constabulary and island as a whole. She handled and developed a number of different breeds of dog, from 8 week old puppies to rehandled older dogs. This gives her a real insight into the temperaments of many breeds and how different approaches in terms of training can bear fruit for clients.

Since leaving her role as a Police Dog Handler and embarking on the K9 X journey, Saskia has gained civillian qualifications in dog behaviour and training.

K9 X is a family run business in the truest form, with our young children providing plenty of ‘assistance’, particulary with the raising of litters within our home.
